Ralph is entering his sixth year as Bluewater’s seasonal Artistic Director. His most recent directing credits include Fair and Square, The Full Mounty and The 39 Steps, all for The Lighthouse Festival Theatre in Port Dover, and here at Bluewater Summer Playhouse.
Other directing highlights include this season’s Buying the Farm, as well as A Doll House (Theatre Sheridan), The Foreigner and The Affections of May (Highlands Summer Festival), and for Bluewater, The Melville Boys, Stag and Doe, Talking Dirty and Henry & Alice Into the Wild, among others.
As an actor, Ralph’s most recent roles include Henry in Sexy Laundry (Lighthouse/Showboat) and The Bar Mitzvah Boy at the Harold Green Theatre in Toronto. He has also appeared in A Few Good Men (Theatre Aquarius), Unnecessary Farce and Marathon of Hope (Drayton Entertainment), the World Premières of Grounded by John Spurway (Lighthouse), Norm Foster's Looking (Victoria Playhouse/ Theatre Aquarius), Colours In the Storm (Muskoka Festival/ Theatre Aquarius), M.J. Cruise's Separate Beds (Showboat/Theatre Orangeville), and Race Day (Theatre-on-the-Grand). Other credits include Barry in Jonas and Barry In The Home, Henry in Sexy Laundry (Bluewater Summer Playhouse), Kris Kringle in Miracle On 34th Street (The Grand), Noises Off (Huron Country Playhouse), Anne Of Green Gables & The Shooting Of Dan McGrew (Charlottetown Festival), Thin Ice: The Musical (National Arts Centre), Wild Guys, (Theatre New Brunswick), Durante (Vancouver Playhouse/US Tour), and Claudius in Hamlet Live (Bathurst St. Theatre). Additional credits include a triple role in Norm Foster's Bedtime Stories (Drayton Entertainment), George in I'll Be Back Before Midnight (Lighthouse), and Hoss in Cheatin’ Hearts at the Victoria Playhouse in Petrolia.
He has also work-shopped, acted in, and/or directed dozens of new plays and musicals with companies such as Lighthouse Theatre, Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), Tarragon Theatre, Script Lab, Buddies in Bad Times/Shaw Festival, Roseneath Theatre, and Theatre Orangeville, where he directed mainstage productions of The Secret Garden and Jim Betts' The Mystery Of The Oak Island Treasure, and served as its first ‘young company' director. As past resident director at Toronto Youth Music Theatre Company, he directed Guys & Dolls, The Music Man, Once Upon A Mattress, and Seussical. As well as writing and directing several musicals for young adults, he wrote the book for the Hamilton (Ontario) inspired gangster musical, Whiskey Serenade, which premiered at the Toronto Centre for the Arts' Studio Theatre.
Ralph is on faculty in the joint program of The University of Toronto at Mississauga (UTM) and Sheridan College. He is a graduate of York University's BA Honours program and holds an MA from The Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies, University of Toronto.
